Local Encounter - Appreciation and Healing for the Humans and Mother Earth in Mwakamba, Kenya/ June 26th, 2018

We visited the village Mwakamba near our hotel complex, where many people live, who met us during the days on the beach and with whom we had talked about essentials. It is an original village where families live in their homes. They care for their own food, by farming the small fields around their houses.

On our walk to the village we were led by already known residents: Rashid, Moses, Omari, Adam. They had organized a car for our wheelchairs. After a silent Peace Walk on the last section of the trail, we did a short tour of the school grounds. There we were already welcomed by the village elder. In the village we met on a large free place with about 200 people of the place, also many women and children.

There we were already welcomed by the village elder. In the village center we met on a large free place with about 200 people of the place, also many women and children. After the words of welcome from Felina and the Village Elder, as well as the handing over of a money envelope and children's gifts as our material gifts, we sang together our peace praise song in Swahili and joined in a meditation.

Then we went together to one of the village wells. The well is one of the important water supply points for the village and threatens to dry up. Agnes gave us a blessing there, while a rain shower spilled over us all. The villagers and we experienced and recognized this as a divine sign.

The visit to the village made it possible to encounter the reality of life of the Mwakamba, as we gained a good insight into their daily lives through the tour: many opportunities for talks and encounters with the heart. Back in the hotel we let this visit end together with a peace meditation under the baobab trees.
